Your B2B deal can pass MEDDPICC inspection and still be wrong. That is the problem in Issue 12 of The Closer & The Architect.
The deal had every box checked.
Budget. Timeline. Need. Metrics. Decision maker. Close date.
Then it died.
The framework did not fail.
The sourcing failed.
One person supplied the answers.
The Champion said the CFO was briefed. The Champion named the decision maker. The Champion confirmed the timeline. The Champion backed the business case.
That can feel like qualification.
It is not. It is a qualified story.
A qualified deal has proof from more than one source. A qualified story has one confident narrator. That difference is where B2B tech deals break.
The risk was already there.
The CFO was never tested. The business case was never defended by the buyer. The committee was never mapped. The Champion was never asked to sell without you.
Clean fields can hide weak proof.
That is why the autopsy has to happen before deal death. Not by asking whether the field is filled in.
By testing the source, the method, and the proof behind every answer.
Before your next forecast call, ask: Who gave us this answer? How do we know it is true?
What proof exists outside the Champion? Have we heard the Economic Buyerโs words directly? Do we know who can block this?
Where would this break if the buyer had to sell it internally?
That changes the forecast call. The team stops admiring the completeness of the story. They start testing the proof.
MEDDPICC was built to expose risk. It becomes dangerous when it is used to create comfort.
Run the autopsy before deal death.
